Doctors are people too. In Behind the White Coat, Jefferson City Magazine takes readers beyond the practice to reveal the personal stories of local physicians.
Wes Christiansen, DDS | Dentist | Stadium Dental
My name is Wes Christiansen, and I was born and raised in Jefferson City.
I have known that I wanted to be a dentist ever since I was a little kid going to my orthodontist for braces. My inspiration and passion for dentistry started with Dr. Steven Huber and has only grown since then.
After graduating from Jefferson City High School, I earned my bachelor’s from the University of Missouri and then went straight into dental school at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. After graduating from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, I moved back home and practiced in town for a few years before taking over Stadium Dental from Dr. Paul Cardon.
I met my wife, Taylor, who is also a dentist, in high school. She currently works in public health, and our long-term goal is to continue to grow Stadium Dental so she can practice with me in the future. As a family of dentists, we are constantly learning from each other and are blessed to practice in the community we both grew up in and love.
For many people, going to the dentist can be a very stressful experience. They fear going to the dentist because they had a negative experience when they were younger. We see patients of all ages and try to make every patient feel as comfortable as possible. My goal is to take the fear out of going to the dentist so people enjoy coming to the office to see the incredible staff. I want to build trust with all my patients, so my approach to dentistry involves explaining everything I will be doing before ever starting a procedure to eliminate surprises.
We are a modern practice, and our services range from routine cleanings and checkups for the whole family to fillings and same-day dental crowns. We also have intraoral cameras in every room so we can show our patients what we see to assist in patient education. Our incredible staff all help to create a welcoming environment for our patients and truly care about everyone who walks in the door. The importance of dental health goes beyond the mouth and affects the whole body. We want our patients to feel empowered to take control of their oral health after visiting our office.
