What’s some good news?
Lacey Hale – Realtor, Brokered by eXp Realty, LLC
I recently closed on a property and plan to open an eXp Realty, LLC branch office. I am currently in the process of remodeling and revamping the building. I have always loved the downtown area and its old historic charm. I can’t wait to add to the beauty of Jefferson City!
Damon Bell – Student, Lincoln University
I am happy to get back on the football field with my teammates, and I look forward to scoring a lot of touchdowns.
Haley Johannpeter – Director of Community Sales and Marketing, Heisinger Bluffs Senior Living
The good news is we beat the summer heat! Fall is my favorite season. Sweater weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and Harry Potter marathons are already calling my name.
Mark Millard – Owner, BA Capital, LLC
In May we purchased a property that is full of history. 714 Michigan St. was the first roller rink in town and became the smaller of two roller rinks linked by a tunnel. The latest business that operated out of the property was the Michigan Place Event Center. Our first project is to revive the two apartments upstairs — one previously housed the lead singer of Shaman’s Harvest. The 7,200 square foot space below is yet to be determined.
Ashlee Morrow – Director of Marketing, Missouri Furniture
With the successful launch of our eighth showroom, Missouri Furniture has been voted Missouri’s Best in the categories of furniture, appliances, and mattresses for four years in a row! We really offer everything for the home, including hot tubs. Try before you buy and BYOB (bring your own bikini).
Tuck Feeler – Student, Jefferson City High School
The good news is that it is high school soccer season. I play for the Jays, and there is nothing better than playing on a great team with great players and coaches. It is also so fun having a crowd cheer you on. Come out and see us play this season!
Zach Paul – Chief Meteorologist, KRCG 13
I’m thrilled to announce that I married an incredible woman who inspires me to be a better person, and I’m grateful to have her by my side. Jessica and I both share a love of Taco Bell and have many moments bonding over Crunchwraps and tacos. We have a wonderful dog Maggie, who makes our hearts melt every time we come home and see her wagging tail. We also have another dog, Jerry. If you know, you know.
Lee A. Knernschield – United Way, President/CPO
The good news is that we are blessed to live in a very giving and caring community. Through the United Way of Central Missouri, our community comes together each year to help those in need.
Jay Fischer – Owner/Operator, Fischer Grain Farms, Fischer Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze
Farming has always been my passion. I’m blessed to wake up every morning still doing exactly what I want to do, and it means so much to our family when people come out and experience the farm every year. There has always been such strong community support for agriculture, and for that, we are truly grateful.
Brinn Thorsten – Owner, The Backdrop JCMO
We’re excited to share that The Backdrop’s Spooktacular Pop-Up will bring some added fun and entertainment to downtown Jefferson City in September and October. Downtown visitors can stop by for unique fall and Halloween photo sessions or participate in one of our many fun events: murder mystery parties, paint parties, fright-night selfie sessions, zombie night, etc.
Jack Brix – Graphic Designer, Jefferson City Magazine
If I’m being honest, the past couple of months have been positively rife with good news and happy occasions. That said, a particular highlight for me was graduating from William Woods University and learning that I had been selected for the Distinguished Scholar Award in the area of art. I was, as the German expressionist Franz Marc would say, “in rather a Champagne mood.”
