We eagerly await and enjoy the CITY’s Best Issue.

There’s joy in seeing our favorites and finding new things to discover. Jefferson City really does have some of the best of everything.  Here are a few of my own personal mayor-approved “Bests” from around town.

Mayor Carrie Tergin painting at Wilson's Serenity Point at Noren Access.

Best View

The Missouri River, the capitol skyline, the top of the Doubletree, the sights from many state office buildings: Central Bank, downtown rooftops, and the governor’s mansion.

Best Volunteers

Each and every person that assisted after the May 2019 tornado (#JCStrong) and those who continue to offer support; our local churches and faith-based organizations who share God’s love; and Chamber Ambassadors who welcome and celebrate businesses.

Best Leaders

Our dedicated city council; statewide elected officials; and the owners, presidents, and managers of local businesses and companies who collaborate for our continued growth and success.

Best way to Connect with Nature

Greenway trails, Binder Park’s trails, Binder Lake-Capital City Sailing Association, Missouri River and Wilson’s Serenity Point at Noren Access, and (soon) access on the capitol side of the river with the Bicentennial Bridge!

Best Display of Passions

The way we celebrate our veterans, military, law enforcement, and first responders throughout the year; our patriotism; the way we support each other and go out of the way to do so (#ShopLocal).

Best Opportunities

Redevelopment of the historic Missouri State Penitentiary; Capitol Avenue properties available for revitalization; our entrepreneurial spirit ready to embrace new businesses; rebuilding Jefferson City after the tornado even better and stronger than ever before.

Best Everyday Experience

Coffee or a meal at a downtown sidewalk cafe; walking or biking through our beautiful neighborhoods; visiting our library.

Best Compared to Other Cities

Plowing snow and keeping our streets clean — hands down we are the winner here and have the best street department EVER! And the people. We have the best people you’ll ever meet right here in Jeff City!

Best Things You Can Only Do Here

Concert Inside the Walls: where else can you see a concert in the yard of a historic penitentiary? Did you know we have one of only a few dinner theaters in our state, Capital City Productions? Where else might you run into the governor and first lady walking hand-in-hand on the sidewalks of downtown near the governor’s mansion, the People’s House? And while we’re at it, how about a tour of the mansion and capitol?

This is only the beginning.

What are your favorite things? Your favorite view? It could be your home and family, from your own special corner of JCMO. Now you fill in the blanks for all of the above. We really have the best of everything, right here in Jefferson City.
