Whether you are craving adventure in your own backyard, or you’d like to showcase the city to visiting guests, the southside of Jeff City is one area you don’t want to leave out of your plans. It’s typically westside versus eastside Jeff City, but it’s time to finally show the southside some of the love it deserves for the uniqueness it offers. In fact, the best doughnuts, unmatched activities, and the most ideal patio dining all reside on the southside. This area offers something for couples, singles, and families alike while remaining budget-friendly and accessible for all Jefferson City residents and guests. There are many options to enjoy a perfect day, but when you only have 24 hours, here is the best way to take advantage of it:
Breakfast:
Grab glazed doughnuts at Schulte’s Fresh Foods. Made daily, they come out fresh and hot. Good luck eating just one!
Morning Activity:
Tee off at the beautiful JC Parks & Rec. Oak Hills Golf Course.
Lunch:
Grab authentic street tacos for lunch at Las Palmas Taqueria.
Afternoon Activity:
Take the kids to Capitol Kids Gym to experience the Ninja Warrior course or have a nerf gun war. You can also lace up some roller skates at Sk8 Zone.
Snack:
Stop by Culver’s for a mid-afternoon snack of cheese curds and lemon ice.
Dinner:
Grab a table, cocktails, delicious food, and a game of cornhole on the spacious patio at Veit’s Pub & Grill.
Nightlife:
End the night at Zesto Drive-In South for a birthday cake dipped ice cream cone.

The southside encompasses what our city is all about: small town, big impact. It took on major damage after the tornado hit in May 2019, but has since been rebuilt and now has even more to offer. Where the tornado destroyed Capitol City Cheer, there is now a newly renovated gym that provides exciting activities for adults and children through Capitol Kids that are a must-try!
The southside isn’t big-city glam or extravagant. It’s the side streets, the corners of strip malls, and the tucked away gems that make up the charm and excitement the southside provides.
