What three words most accurately describe her?
Honest, caring, dedicated.
Tell us how you met.
Sandy is my mother, so I’ve known her my whole life.
When and how did you realize how important she was going to be in your life?
I realized she was important at a young age. She had to raise my brother, sister, and I by herself. She was always there,
and she always provided.
How does she encourage/teach you?
She taught me by example. She has run her own business, Sandy’s Upholstery, for nearly 28 years now, and she has shown nothing but top quality and efficiency to her customers ever since.
What do you think she really loves about her career?
She loves all the people she has gotten to meet over the years, and how she has an impact on their lives beyond just upholstery.
What traits does she have that make her successful?
She is passionate, honest, and personable which has made her successful in her business and with close relationships.
What is the best advice she has ever given you?
Do it right the first time, and if you do the little extra things, it’ll pay off in the end.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from her?
That life is going to challenge us all. When you take life head on you can make the best of every situation.
What is her greatest strength?
Her selflessness. She will do anything for anyone whenever she can.
What do you most admire about her?
I admire the passion she has toward anything that she does.
How do you hope to emulate her professionally and/or personally?
I hope to treat every customer with the same respect and honesty that she does with her own clients. I’ve grown to learn that you can never go wrong this way.
I have been to numerous bids where I sit down and people say to me, “Thats your mom? She is the greatest!” It’s really cool to be doing work for the same people that she has worked for in previous years.
What else do you want to share about her?
Sandy is the best person I know. I have been so lucky to have such a great and inspiring role model in my life. She has taught me right from wrong and what it means to not only run a great business, but to be a great person. To me, those are the two most important things that go hand in hand.
