Sugar Britches is on the rise with healthy, gluten-free meals.

Sugar Britches, nestled in a charming brick building on the corner of West McCarty and Bolivar Streets, recently blossomed into an even more inviting destination. Expanding into a neighboring space, the bakery now offers guests the convenience of a shared parking lot and separate areas for baking and gathering. While the original storefront continues to tempt passersby with the aroma of freshly baked goods, the new addition radiates warmth with deep, beautiful green walls, a glowing fi replace, and a communal table; it’s perfect for friendly lunches, intimate meetings, and lively events.

The best part is that the space welcomes outside food for private gatherings, making it not just a café but a true community hub. At its heart, Sugar Britches is dedicated to being an allergen-free sanctuary. Every item on the menu is dye-free and dairy-free, with plenty of options catering to soy-free, gluten-free diets. They also have options for those living with Alpha-gal syndrome — a red meat allergy often triggered by tick bites that complicates many food choices.

The bakery’s showcase is brimming with irresistible treats, but none are as beloved as Mama’s Carrot Cake, a tribute to Owner Angela Murphy’s mother. Other temptations include gluten-free cinnamon rolls, decadent s’mores bars, fudge brownies, and muffins that capture the flavors of the seasons — like the pumpkin cream cheese muffin. In addition, Angela and her team take custom orders for any special occasion.

When visiting, consider trying the highly recommended peanut butter protein balls, an ideal snack for busy days or a grab-and-go boost to keep on hand at home. The strawberry banana and the seasonal pumpkin spice smoothies are also convenient and made fresh. For those who really need a morning or mid-day boost, the whipped protein lattes come with a choice of vanilla or chocolate base, are served hot or iced, and are packed with a generous 22 grams of protein. Additionally, all of their coffee drinks feature Tahila, a locally air-roasted coffee with a low acid content, making every sip smooth and enjoyable on the stomach.

For lunch, try the pizza pasta bake, a hearty combination of pasta, red sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. When needing a quick bite, their croissant sandwiches paired with a crisp salad from the grab-and-go cooler are both refreshing and satisfying.

Sugar Britches is more than a bakery; it’s a welcoming retreat with an intimate ambiance. Here, everyone can find something delicious to savor, all in a space that feels like home.
