Kelsey Lenox of Indigo the Salon explains the benefits of head spas.

As people continue seeking ways to slow down and prioritize their well-being, experiences that encourage rest and rejuvenation are becoming more popular than ever. One of the latest trends in self-care is the head spa, an experience designed to soothe the mind while promoting scalp and hair health.

Indigo the Salon launched its head spa services in early May 2026, offering clients a chance to unwind and step away from the pace of everyday life. Rooted in Japanese and Korean beauty and wellness traditions, head spas offer a more intentional approach to hair and scalp care.

“A head spa is a luxury scalp and hair wellness experience,” explains Kelsey Lenox, owner of Indigo’s head spa.
Designed to go far beyond a traditional shampoo, treatments focus on reducing buildup, promoting healthy hair growth, and creating a healthier, more balanced scalp. Kelsey emphasizes the importance of scalp health as the foundation for healthy hair.

“I think it’s important for people to understand that scalp care is the foundation for great hair. It’s not a luxury, it’s essential,” she explains.

“What I love most is the transformation, not just the hair, but how our clients feel when they leave.”

While many people invest in color, styling, cuts, and extensions, healthy hair begins at the scalp. Head spa treatments are designed to support long-term hair and scalp health while offering an intentional opportunity to slow down and care for both body and mind.

The head spa at Indigo offers a fully customizable experience tailored to each guest’s needs and goals. Treatments can incorporate therapeutic scalp massages, steam therapy, hydration treatments, scalp-balancing techniques, circulation support, deep cleansing, and detailed scalp analysis. Guests can also indulge in blowouts, gloss treatments, and extended neck and shoulder massages. Indigo plans to introduce facial services in late 2026.

Head spa services can benefit a wide range of clients, both men and women. Those experiencing stress, hormonal shifts, scalp irritation, hair thinning, dryness, excess oil, or simply a desire to slow down and recharge may find the experience especially appealing. Kelsey notes that the treatments can be particularly beneficial for women navigating hormonal changes and for men experiencing hair changes associated with age or stress.

“These services lower stress, activate the parasympathetic nervous system, and can help reset your entire system,” explains Kelsey.

For Kelsey, one of the most rewarding aspects of offering head spa services is seeing how it benefits her clients.

“What I love most is the transformation, not just the hair, but how our clients feel when they leave,” she says. “You can physically see the shift. Clients often arrive feeling overwhelmed and depleted and leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more refreshed.”
