From intense weather to family gatherings, here’s yet another way to add some drama to the holiday season.

Where are the detail-oriented decorators at? Like picking out the perfect card for the perfect occasion, spending intentional time wrapping presents thoughtfully can add extra enchantment and cohesiveness to holiday decor. Here’s just one idea to get the creative juices flowing

Step 1

Gather all the supplies: two contrasting pieces of paper; tape; ribbon; and winter accessories like pinecones, evergreen branches, and berries. A medium-weight paper is ideal to use for this project. If the paper is too thin, rips will ensue; if the paper is too thick, folding becomes a workout. The sky’s the limit for winter accessories. Try peppermints, charms, or anything with spark.

Step 2

Wrap the present in the first paper.

Step 3

Cut the second paper about three to four times longer than the length needed to cover the box. Then, fold over the starting edge about¼ inch. Continue by creating 1” folds over and over until near the other end of the paper. Finish with another¼-inch edge fold which will help hide the edge later. Softly unfold the paper and lay it flat.

Step 4

Pinching both sides of the first crease line, pull the paper up to meet the next crease line above it; then pull the crease down ¼ inch and press evenly across to create pleats. Repeat until you have used all crease lines. Flip over and tape to keep in place.

Step 5

Wrap the pleated paper around your box and use tape to secure it.

Step 6

Accessorize! Make holiday shapes to stuff in the pleats, or simply finish with a bow and available winter treasures.
