What service do you provide?
Landscape construction with a focus on outdoor living. This includes patios, kitchens, fireplaces, fire pits, and concrete edging.
When and how did you get into landscaping?
I started my business six years ago in 2016, shortly after graduating from the commercial turf and grounds program at State Technical College. I didn’t intend to start a company originally, but as I did a small project here, and another one there, things began to snowball. With the support of family and friends, I decided to take the leap and things have skyrocketed since.
What sets you apart?
Haslag Landscape and Design uniquely focuses on the landscape construction aspect of the landscape industry. This has allowed us to quickly rise as leaders in our industry and offer top quality products, efficiency, and great customer service to the Central Missouri area. We also offer a full-service design, install, and maintenance experience to all of our customers.
What’s one thing you wish everyone knew about landscaping?
I wish everyone knew that an outdoor living area is more affordable than you think. You don’t have to go super extravagant or over the top to have a great place for your family to gather.
How do you define success?
I define success as having a positive impact on my family, friends, and community. I love being involved and helping out others. When a business is successful because of its community, it is only right to give back. We have had huge success our first six years and celebrate by continuing to offer the same quality and commitment to our customers and community.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The transformations we get to complete on peoples’ homes and the joy it brings them.
What are your goals?
My future goals are to continue to grow my business. Up to this point, we have grown and surpassed all my initial goals and timeframes. I plan to stick to the same roots that have led to this success and continue to grow and expand while making a positive impact in our community. This ranges from equipment and reputation to employees and the benefits we can offer to help keep and add amazing people.
What is your favorite way to unwind?
My favorite way to unwind is to slow things down and have a relaxing night on my own patio. This is usually with friends, family, and my dogs.

Efficiency, professionalism, and excellence.
What’s been your biggest challenge?
Growing at a manageable pace. It’s a good problem to have, but it presents its challenges. With the success we have experienced, we have a high demand for our services. I have made it my biggest priority to maintain the high level of quality, service, and communication that has allowed us to grow while continuing to add and expand. To achieve this, we stuck true to our roots of meticulousness and doing every single project like it was our own. Having amazing employees is instrumental to achieving this, which is why we work so hard to retain and find dependable people.
How is community involvement important to your business?
I serve my community through action and support. I try to be as interactive in different groups and causes as I can be. In doing this, I have met a lot of new and amazing people, who have the like minded goal of making Jefferson City a great place to live. Professionally, we sponsor all kinds of ball teams, events, and causes that benefit our local youth. I feel this is a way of doing my part to support and serve.
Do you feel like you have work/life balance?
My biggest struggle has been learning to balance work and personal life. As any business owner knows, it’s a 24/7 lifestyle. To overcome that struggle, I’ve learned to structure my daily and weekly schedules — especially with start and finish times. I have found that staying organized and keeping a structured schedule helps not only with productivity, but with the stresses of balancing home and work life.
