La Chica Loca
After delighting diners in food truck form, La Chica Loca has opened a brick-and-mortar location downtown. Owner Amanda Jensen and chef Greg Atkinson dish up breakfast burritos and bowls with flavors ranging from chicken chorizo and green chile to bacon cheeseburger and smoked sausage.
Sweet Smoke BBQ
Sweet Smoke BBQ has opened a second location, on Jefferson City’s Westside. The new facility offers the same beloved barbecue as its downtown counterpart, including slow-smoked turkey, brisket, sausage, pulled pork, burnt ends, and more.
Calling all athletes: The Zone, an indoor sports training facility, is now open on West Main. The 35,000-square-foot facility houses nine batting cages, two pitching lanes, two basketball/volleyball courts, a turf field, and a multi-purpose training room. The spaces are available for rent, and organized classes are also offered to help clients meet their peak performance capabilities.
A new restaurant in the lobby of the Governor’s Office Building downtown is serving up comic book-themed food to fight off hunger. Gotham Grill, owned by Anthony Stephens, offers menu items like The Hulk sandwich, Stan Lee loaded oatmeal, and Aunt May’s pancakes, along with coffee drinks.

Jeff City residents now have a new place to get their caffeine fix thanks to Scooter’s Coffee. The drive-thru chain sells hot and iced coffee drinks, teas, smoothies, and other beverages. Breakfast foods and pastries, including muffins, scones, and bacon and egg burritos, are also available.
Texas Roadhouse has established a new home in Jefferson City. The restaurant, with managing partner Nicholas Pruett at the helm, specializes in hand-cut steaks and “country meals” as well as starters like rattlesnake bites, Texas red chili, and cactus blossoms. Online and to-go orders are also available.
