WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL GOAL WITH CITY FIT? WHAT IS YOUR WHY?
My goal is to get my confidence back and be stronger mentally and physically. I want to be proud of my body, not embarrassed or ashamed. I also hope it will help combat postpartum depression. I have an 18-month-old little girl and a 5-week-old little boy. I want them to grow up seeing their mom and dad being active so they will have it as part of their lifestyle forever.
WHAT IS YOUR GOAL BEFORE THE NEXT ISSUE?
My goal is to get my confidence up, even just a little bit. And to fit in my clothes a little more comfortably.
WHAT DO YOU FORESEE BEING YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
My biggest challenge will be eating well and sticking with it. But let’s be honest, this whole thing is going to be a huge challenge for me.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR HISTORY IN TRYING TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL?
I haven’t really done much. I had two babies very close together and my body went through a lot of changes. I was an athlete in high school and have worked out on and off since then but haven’t been consistent with it.
HOW DOES ACHIEVING THIS GOAL CHANGE YOUR LIFE?
Battling postpartum depression and low confidence has been very tough for me. With my job, I put a lot of pressure on myself to look a certain way and when I don’t, I feel ashamed. Achieving this goal would give me freedom from those feelings. It would also help me show my children how to be confident in themselves by being active.
WHO IS IN YOUR SUPPORT GROUP CHEERING YOU ON?
My husband, my babies (even though they don’t know it), and my family and friends.
WHAT DOES GETTING FIT MEAN TO YOU?
Confidence, self love, pride, health.
