Discover this captivating
romance series by Author S.E. Fisher.

If you love the idea of love and delight in happily-ever-afters, you’ll want to add local author S.E. Fisher to your reading list. S.E. is a self-proclaimed “idealistic romantic,” so it’s no surprise that romance is her preferred writing genre.

“What I want to put out in the world is something good, something sweet,” she says. A native of Henley, Missouri, S.E. draws upon her small-town upbringing, strong family ties, love of nature, and the beauty of the Show Me State to set the stage for her writing. The four romances in “The Shiloh Hills Small Town Romance” series are all set in a small town in the Missouri Ozarks, with each taking place in a different season. The heroes in her books are strong, upstanding, and protective, while the heroines tend to be witty, sarcastic, stubborn, and emotional. The main couple differs in each book, but characters from previous novels appear in supporting roles.

S.E.’s first book, “The Fence Between Us,” was published in June of 2025 by Blue Dandelion Press LLC, S.E.’s personal publishing house. The novel explores a friendship between a young couple that overcomes obstacles to find lasting love. It includes themes of homecoming, reconciliation, and second chances to convey the message that no one’s past has to define them.

S.E.’s second novel in the series, “The Secrets Between Us,” is scheduled to be published this spring. The author’s goal is to have the remaining novels of the series published in 2026. A prequel novelette, “The Summer We Fell,” is available to anyone who signs up to receive S.E.’s newsletter.

It was a short-story assignment in grade school that first awakened S.E.’s interest in writing. Luckily, an astute high school English teacher recognized S.E.’s talent and provided the support and encouragement she needed to pursue her passion.

However, S.E.’s path to becoming a published author was not a direct one. She married her high school sweetheart after graduation and was told she would never amount to anything, a theme she channeled into her first book. S.E. ultimately finished college, earning a degree in history. She then went to work full-time, and she and her husband welcomed three children into the world, two sons and a daughter. All the while, she continued to write as much as she could.

Her career came to a crossroads following the birth of her daughter in 2023. S.E. struggled with postpartum depression that she says “rocked my whole world.” Recognizing that she needed a change in direction S.E. quit her full-time job and began working part-time in an effort to focus more on what she enjoyed doing most: writing.

With her sons, who are involved in sports, and her daughter, who is still a toddler, S.E. still struggles to find time for her craft. She typically waits until her kids are in bed to start writing and often pounds the keys until midnight. At any given time, the author has multiple book ideas and writing projects in progress. She has a historical romance in the works and is also pursuing a Romantasy, a relatively new writing style that combines romance and fantasy.

“Ultimately, at the end of the day, I want love to prevail and good to overcome evil,” S.E. says. “There’s enough awfulness in this world. I don’t want to put more into it. I just want to spread a little love.”

S.E.’s books can be found online at Amazon, the Curious Turtle in Jefferson City, and Cliffhanger Books in Eldon, Missouri. Signed copies can also be ordered from S.E.’s website.
