Your Own Way
What is your product or service? We provide weekly online menus for meal prep. Meal prepping each week can take an entire day for someone at home. We prep hundreds of meals each week so our customers can count on healthy, balanced meals without all the prep time.
When did your business get started? I opened Love2Nourish in 2015. However, I was using “Nourish” as my business name while providing catering and baking in the Jefferson City area. I have always prepared similar meals for my family that I prep now. It was my daughter, Sarah, a registered dietitian, that introduced me to the concept of meal prep. I really knew nothing about it, but my catering experience helped me with the mass production of meals. I know how it feels to be at a desk all day, run out to grab something at a fast-food restaurant, return to a desk, and feel sleepy or lethargic all afternoon. It’s my mission to create a menu each week that nourishes people with real food. The type of food our bodies respond to with energy, focus, and drive.
What do you think are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur? Perseverance, a good support system, and like-minded individuals/staff that help you complete your mission.
What are your future goals? We are getting ready to expand to the JC Wellness Center. I’m very excited to grow back into a lunch service and to be in a location with like-minded businesses and health providers.
What sets you apart from your competition? I’m lucky because, currently, I don’t have competition in Jefferson City. I grew up with food allergies and I decided on a completely gluten-free kitchen when I started Love2Nourish because I understand how dangerous food sensitivities and allergies can be. I get to know my customers. I know what their sensitivities are. I love meeting new customers and seeing the look of amazement when I can help them find something they can eat without worrying. Food sensitivities are scary and frustrating.
Any advice for those just getting started? You’ll definitely get discouraged. You’re the driving force for what you want to accomplish. Ask for help. Keep showing up. You can do this.
