Doctors are people too. In Behind the White Coat, Jefferson City Magazine takes readers beyond the practice to reveal the personal stories of local physicians.

Jeffrey Klott, MD | Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine | MU Health Care

My name is Jeffrey Klott, and I was born and raised in Washington, Missouri.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time around Central Missouri with family in Loose Creek, Taos, and Hermann. I received my undergraduate education at Truman State University, where I met my wife, and completed medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After medical school, my wife and I traveled to Indianapolis and Memphis to complete my orthopaedic training. While there, we welcomed three children. We then had the chance to move back home, be closer to family, and have the opportunity to serve the Central Missouri area.

As a successful high school and collegiate athlete with a fair share of injuries, I have a unique perspective as an orthopaedic surgeon. I required surgery on my knee in high school and my shoulder in college. Through the hard work of others, I was able to return to the sports I love, pain free. With their example, I try to provide the same care for my patients.

My goal is to get patients back to the activities they enjoy, decrease or eliminate pain, and restore movement and independence. It’s an honor patients trust me to take care of them and their loved ones. The most rewarding part of my job is the opportunity to help patients and make a difference in their lives.

Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, children, and our dog Louie. We truly enjoy being part of this community, visiting the local parks, eating Central Dairy ice cream, hiking, and enjoying other easily accessible outdoor sports. We have enjoyed how people have gone out of their way to welcome us to this community and already make it feel like home.
