Optimizing Women’s Hormones
Hormone decline in women can start as early as mid to late 30’s. Estrogen declines by about 50% by age 50 and declines even further through menopause.
What you need to know
Declining hormone levels affect our body’s ability to function at peak performance, and in addition, can have other long term risk factors as well, to include bone density loss, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, type II diabetes, and coronary artery disease.
Hormone decline is a natural and normal process that occurs as we age. Hormones are produced in the adrenal glands and ovaries and are the chemical messengers in our body that tell other cells what to do. They regulate virtually every bodily function.
Female hormone imbalance can be a bit more complicated to treat than for men, and the list of symptoms can be even longer.
Most common symptoms
Hot Flashes and/or Night Sweats
A decrease in estrogen in females can result in daily or nightly feelings of sweating, feeling flushed, and/or significant difficulty regulating. body temperature.
Persistent or Recurring Headaches
Some migraines or cluster headaches are estrogen sensitive. Decreases in estrogen can cause them to be more severe and may increase the frequency.
Mood Instability/Mental Clarity
Some symptoms of hormone decline can mimic “mild depression.” Supplementing necessary hormone levels can improve this.
Decreased Sexual Desire
This can include painful intercourse and vaginal dryness. As our levels decline, so does the function of the hormones to promote normal vaginal lubrication levels.
Fatigue
A hormonal imbalance can cause general fatigue, including sleep disturbances which then can exacerbate daily fatigue.
Difficulty Controlling Weight
Fluctuating hormone levels can be associated with weight gain and difficulty losing weight.
Women Need Testosterone Too
Although a much smaller quantity than men, it is still important to have a good balance of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.
“Hormone decline is a natural and normal process that occurs as we age.”
How we can help
There are multiple treatment options available to treat hormone decline safely and effectively. We do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to helping women supplement hormone decline. Each patient has different symptoms and declines at different intervals.
Optimizing Men’s Hormones
There can be many reason men’s testosterone to decline before the age of 40. However, age-related hypogonadism (i.e.,low testosterone), can start to decline by about 1% a year after 40.

Replacing low hormone levels as we age can be a powerful preventive and regenerative medical treatment.
Most common symptoms
Disruptive and inconsistent sleep cycles
The importance of consistent good sleep is critical to our body’s ability to function on a daily basis. Low hormone levels can cause disrupted sleep patterns, possibly resulting in an increase of cortisol levels.
Decreased Energy Levels
Low testosterone can also cause low energy levels, which may have a serious impact on your everyday life. Properly adjusting hormone levels can result in increased energy, muscle mass (even without working out), and an increased desire to exercise.
Mood Instability
Low testosterone can decrease mental clarity and loss of interest in things that used to be important to you. You may feel irritable or grumpy or may experience brain fog.
Decreased Sexual Desire or Response
The desire to have sex, that drives so many when they are young, is based largely on hormone production. When testosterone levels drop, so does a man’s desire for sex and this includes erectile dysfunction.
