The Pederson home celebrates timeless design, family memories, and summer living.

Realtors’ entire livelihoods revolve around finding the perfect home for their clients: making sure the square footage is right, the layout is perfect, and every whim is accounted for. They scour neighborhoods for homes on the market and work tirelessly to find the right fit. At the end of the day, however, those realtors need a place to relax like the rest of us.

Entrance: Nestled in a neighborhood on the west side of Jefferson City lies the modernized Tudor-style home the Pedersons call their own. Framed by manicured landscaping and seasonal planters, a curved walkway leads to the covered front porch and inviting front entrance. Just inside the front doors, a gallery wall of family photographs, silhouettes, and cherished heirlooms offers a glimpse into both Ashley and Dave Pederson’s family histories, creating a warm and welcoming first impression.

Living Room: Originally designed as a formal living room, the space has evolved into one of the home’s favorite gathering places. Anchored by comfortable seating and abundant natural light, the room balances timeless design with everyday livability.
Throughout the space, treasured heirlooms tell the story of generations past. Antique busts, equestrian artwork, a brass bell, and other pieces passed down from both sides of the family are thoughtfully displayed within the custom built-ins. The home’s furnishings continue that legacy, with some pieces dating back to the late 1800s. Together with the family photographs showcased in the adjoining foyer, these meaningful items preserve family memories while adding character and depth to the home.

Kitchen area: A large marble-topped island welcomes guests into the kitchen, where cream cabinetry contrasts beautifully with rich wood finishes and marble countertops. Recessed lighting, illuminated glass-front cabinets, and oversize pendant lights create a warm glow. Displayed behind the glass-front cabinets are serving pieces and pottery passed down through generations. While the Pedersons retained much of the kitchen’s original 1990s design, updated appliances, fixtures, and handcrafted details help blend modern convenience with the warmth and character that first drew them to the home. Much of the tile work throughout the kitchen and bathrooms was completed by Dave Pederson himself.
Across from the kitchen is a sitting room that provides a comfortable place to gather before and after meals. A sage green sofa and warm leather chairs surround a coffee table, while a marble fireplace anchors the space. French doors line one side of the room, opening to the covered patio and pool area and creating an easy indoor-outdoor flow. The connection makes it easy for family and guests to move between the home’s indoor and outdoor gathering spaces.

Dining Room: Just beyond the kitchen, the dining area invites you in beneath an A-frame ceiling. An enchanting chandelier hangs from the peak above the long, light oak dining table. To the left sits a cream-colored china cabinet stacked with fine plates, cups, and more dinnerware. A tall window overlooks the front lawn, where the Pedersons can watch the sun set as they gather around the table.

Primary Bedroom: The home’s private spaces offer comfort and thoughtful design. The primary bedroom sits at the far left end of the first floor, with eggshell carpet and navy blue walls. Dave and Ashley achieved many homeowners’ renovation dreams by reworking the floor plan to double the size of the primary closet. The redesign required borrowing space from the bathroom, but thoughtful planning allowed the en suite to remain spacious and functional while creating ample room for clothing, shoes, bags, and jewelry. The en suite features iridescent white tile, a rainfall showerhead, and a double-bowl vanity.
Upstairs, a loft area serves as both a reading nook and workspace. Beyond this area lie the two kids’ rooms. One room, straight from a fairy tale, is perfectly designed for a little girl: golden wallpaper depicting blue birds on tree branches, a sage green window seat, and a private bathroom decked in pink. Meanwhile, the older son’s room across the hall is more subdued, with darker green painted walls, posters of sports teams and space, and shelves filled with completed Lego sets.

Backyard: The Pedersons’ backyard is the ideal place to be in the summer. A large inground pool immediately greets you when opening the back door from the sitting room, enticing you to take a dip. With a diving board and waterslide, the pool is designed for summer fun.

When the Pedersons first bought the house, the backyard ended at the top of the hill. However, after Dave personally removed many of the trees that once lined the hill, the backyard now allows even more outdoor fun. A large, circular fire pit is surrounded by red Adirondack chairs, creating the perfect area to sit, chat, and reminisce around a roaring fire. Just a few feet away sits a trampoline for the kids to enjoy, surrounded by a sprawling lawn that offers plenty of room to run and play.

Originally built in the 1990s by Dee and Jay Shelton and constructed by builder Turk, the home was custom-designed with an emphasis on warmth and livability. With guidance from David Brandon Home & Design, the Pedersons updated the property while preserving the character and craftsmanship that first drew them to it. Rather than gut the house, they embraced many of its original design elements, pairing modern updates with the charm and familiarity of the era.
