If you have never participated in Street Art we encourage you to join in a day of music, creativity and fun. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners. An Evening at the Opera @ Central United Church of Christ
Oct 18 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Nine of Jefferson City’s finest vocalists will join Southside Philharmonic Orchestra, a local classical chamber orchestra, to deliver fun and highly-dramatic excerpts from several of the most well-known and beloved operas, including Verdi’s La traviata, Puccini’s La bohème, and Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, just to name a few.

Operatic arias might be considered the very height of musical drama and are favorites of classical music lovers and admirers of emotional and comical theater; musical excerpts include vocal solos and ensemble numbers from surprisingly recognisable operas. These pieces penetrate our culture well beyond just the opera houses (commercial, movie, TV, and cartoons for example). Everyone knows Bizet’s “Habanera” but I bet they don’t know the context, and at our performance we will emphasize the original context of each number.
