STUDIO573 FITNESS
FITNESS CENTER
Your Own Way
What is the name of your business? My business is Studio573 Fitness. We are a personal training studio that represents the JCMO area (573).
What is your product or service? Our service is personal training and group exercise.
When and how did your business get started? My business started officially in June 2017. However, it took almost a year of planning. Having a fitness background, I found myself unhappy in my 9-5 job. I noticed a lack of specialty fitness in the JCMO area, which drove me to step outside of my comfort zone.
How do you define success/celebrate a win? I define success by the small victories like positive feedback, clients celebrating their own victories, growth, retention, and recognition. I celebrate the best way possible, with a glass of wine.
What kind of culture exists in your organization and how did you establish it? It’s a community. We laugh together when the instructor says burpees (but also cry), we hang out after classes and chat, and we also spend time together outside of the studio whether it’s a community bike ride or a girls night out.
What quote or motto do you live by? “Don’t take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.” — Elbert Hubbard. How many employees? We started with less than five and now have 20!
Any awards or notables that we should know about? We just won the Small Business of the Year award!
How is community involvement important to your business? It’s huge! We open our doors every holiday for free and ask for donations for a local charity. We also try to sponsor as many events as we can.
Do you have any advice for those just getting started? As a young entrepreneur, my best advice would be to brace yourself for the roller coaster. Sometimes the lows can feel like you’ll never come back up. We all get them. Just keep going.
How do you prioritize self-care? I try to schedule out my classes for the week, just like I preach to clients. Getting exercise is so important not only physically, but mentally.
What are you most thankful for in your business? I am most thankful for the staff and members. They would do anything and everything for me.
