What is Genesis’s product or service?
At Genesis, we specialize in making you healthier inside and out. Whether it’s your circulation, hormones, or beauty, we can customize a plan for a healthier you. Our goal is to keep you healthy and active so that you can age well and enjoy all the years of your life.

When and how did you get into this industry?
After practicing surgery for 20+ years and treating everything from hernias to cancer, I was ready to find a way to help people avoid the serious illnesses I helped them recover from. I started the Laser & Vein Center 15 years ago, and over time (frequently due to our patients asking for new services), we have grown into three diverse divisions: the Vein Center, Medspa, and Wellness divisions.

What sets you apart?
At Genesis, I feel it is our commitment to bringing the most up to date technology and treatments. But to me, it is our staff. We have a rigorous ongoing education process that all staff must participate in and excel in before they can work for me. This ensures that we deliver the best possible results. We value our reputation and relationship with our community and want everyone to be our friends and clients.

How do you define success?
Simply put, happy staff and happy clients. We are a team at Genesis, and from the top to the bottom, we share all the wins and losses.

What are the top three skills needed to be a master in your industry?
Personality, proficiency, and persistence. These, along with professionalism, would be the must-haves to succeed in this industry. You must be clinically excellent first, do it with a smile, and still smile when you fall flat on your face. If you can’t do that, then the road is much harder in my opinion.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part is helping people succeed. Whether it is more self-confidence, better health, or aesthetics, nothing beats the client smiling and returning.

What quote does Genesis Company live by?
My favorite statement to new employees is“ This is Disney World, if I have to explain that to you, you may not work out here.” From the boss to the front desk, we all are here to serve and assist each other in delivering the best client experience.

What’s one thing you wish everyone knew about Genesis Company?
We spend the time in the weeds to only bring things to Jefferson City that deliver the outcomes you deserve.

How is community involvement important to your business?
We feel that giving back to those in our community most in need is at the core of who we are. We annually support organizations that are helping locally, have low administrative overheads, and generally are in health or are empowering their recipients to rise up and change their circumstances. We set aside a percentage of our revenues to help our fellow citizens most in need as we feel that everyone at some time may need a hand up.

Do you have any advice for those just getting started?
Be prepared to work hard, stay honest, know your boundaries, and deliver the client experience that everyone deserves. To me, customer service is what drives success. You have to deliver results also, but that coupled with a great experience is what sustains you.

When someone is looking to hire a professional in your industry, what should they look for?
Their personality. Are they warm, inviting, confident, empathetic, energetic, and intellectual? All of these traits will lead to success in this field. Many of these traits have a fine line such as confidence as you can be overconfident without a track record of success. That would not be good. But when we look for a new hire, they have to want to succeed, and they have to value this industry.

Do you feel like you have work/life balance? If so, how do you do it?
This can be challenging at times, but fortunately I do not have to work nights or weekends anymore. There is always more work to be done, but in my current line of work, it usually can wait till tomorrow. After having worked for years on an unpredictable schedule, it is a blessing to be home for dinner daily and to not have to take two cars everywhere we go.
