Philanthropic Company: C&S Employment Solutions
C &S Employment Solutions has provided staffing for businesses and jobs for individuals in Central Missouri since 1977. In 1989, Paula Benne purchased the company and has operated C&S Employment Solutions for over three decades. When Paula began her journey as a small-business owner, the company’s focus was on providing secretarial services.
Over the years, the company has evolved to meet the needs of Jefferson City businesses as technology has become more accessible and industries have shifted. Today, C&S Employment Solutions provides contract and temporary employment, temp-to-hire, and direct-hire placements across multiple industries.
Through a small, community-minded staff of nine, the company supports a wide variety of charitable organizations and causes. That support comes in many forms — from financial support to volunteering for a number of organizations and serving as leaders in pilot programs. Organizations that the staff has supported include Relay for Life, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City, Zonta, March of Dimes, and the United Way of Central Missouri.
Additionally, Paula is the founder and co-chair of the Redemption Inside the Walls concert and ministry. Each year, a nationally recognized Christian artist performs at the concert, and an area nonprofit receives the proceeds generated from the event. Since 2019, the concert has provided donations to local charities, including The Healing House and New Beginnings, the Council for Drug Free Youth, the Leah Hargrove Foundation, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City.
Paula currently serves on the Central Workforce Development Board and co-chairs both the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce Workforce Coalition and the Childcare Action Committee, which supports the United Way of Central Missouri’s Early Childcare Initiative.
Through a pilot program that partners local businesses with childcare centers, C&S Employment Solutions has set a goal to help provide quality, reliable, and affordable child care while allowing the partners to take advantage of grant opportunities.
The additional money can help retain, train, and grow staff at childcare centers. Paula sees the pilot program as not only helping Jefferson City’s workforce today but also ensuring its future success since a strong workforce also needs reliable childcare options.
“I can help today’s workforce by looking at tomorrow,” Paula says.
Whether C&S Employment Solutions is helping to make the Jefferson City workforce stronger and more competitive or its team is leading the way with philanthropic work, it all comes down to the same goal of seeing the community flourish.
“My passion is making our community more successful,” Paula says.
