When we sat down to plan this issue, we thought the theme “Classic” would be a walk in the park. It is timeless, traditional, and things we all know and love, right? But, we quickly found out, classic is hard to pin down. What’s classic to me might not be classic to you. What comes to mind when you think of a classic-style home? Did you envision a craftsman, ranch style, colonial, Victorian, farmhouse, or Tudor-style home? We concluded, there is no house more classic to Jefferson City than the Missouri State Capitol building. Of course, we aim to always publish fresh content, and we know most of you have seen photos of the Capitol before, but not like these! We go into the secret spaces that most have never seen until now. Thank you to our friends in the Missouri House and Senate for welcoming us with open doors.

Flipping Fabulous

Our “Classic” issue features a not-so-classic surprise as you flip over this issue to find our special 10-year anniversary “CITY’s Best” issue. This is a first for CITY Magazine. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Staples

In these pages, you’ll find Jefferson City staples like American Shoe and Whaley’s Pharmacy. What we know is it’s businesses like these that make Jefferson City home. Regardless of how long you’ve lived here, we know these places to be grounded in tradition, and most importantly, quality service, and ever-current offerings.

Don’t Forget

There’s always something new to check out, but take some time to enjoy the classics. Swap the movie premiere for an older film, the new energy drink for a fountain soda, or instead of the virtual training subscription attend a group fitness class with your friends.

Stay classy Jefferson City,
(had to do it)
