CITY’s Best is back! Can you remember the last time Jefferson City Magazine hosted this competition?

We’ve had so much fun notifying the winners. It’s been a few months of mini-celebrations — and rightfully so. Our local businesses put in the extra hours to ensure they’re providing the best services and products, and it’s about time we recognize the absolute best again! If you know me, one of my favorite mottos is “work hard, play hard.” I take that one to heart.
You’re going to see familiar faces and names as you flip through these pages, but also some new ones that are making a splash in JCMO. Next time you see them, be sure to offer congratulations. Look for the banners and window clings of those with brick-and-mortars. Refer to the comprehensive directory in the back of every issue when you’re stumped on where to find a new agent, restaurant, stylist, vet, realtor, designer, trainer, or (almost) anything else. Shopping locally just got easier, so take advantage of this resource!
I also want to make sure you know you’re invited to our CITY’s Best event happening March 2 at Capital Bluffs from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. We gathered a committee of only CITY’s Best winners to help us plan it, and we’re having some amazing entertainment: Blue Diamond Drumline and The Cherry Pistols. Over 35 winners will be there bringing it! If you can’t find me, chances are I’ll be at the s’mores bar. Yeah, I said it. The s’mores bar. Don’t tell my trainer . . . and don’t miss out! Grab your ticket ($20 in advance, $25 at the door) at jeffersoncitymag.com/citys-best-event.
Final Thoughts
I read a quote on a coffee mug the other day: “Behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women who have her back.” It’s the new-age “Behind every great man there’s a great woman.” I know, I know. They’re both a bit kitschy, but they continue to pop up on cups and T-shirts because there’s truth to these sayings.
As you flip through these pages and get excited for our CITY’s Best winners, let us not forget about the teams, significant others, mentors, and friends who stand behind and beside them supporting their goals and achievements. None of us, winners or not, could do it without our tribes, including me!
Hope to see you on March 2,

Missy Creed McFerron, Publisher
P.S. It was 2016, if you were wondering — this is the first CITY’s Best in four years!
