Jeremy.

Age: Guess!

Occupation: Public Health Research Analyst

Q: If you could give your 2019-self one piece of advice, what would be?

A: Accept the compliment. They’re well intended. Before, it was awkward because I was so used to not receiving compliments, but now people tell me, “you’re looking really good, Jeremy,” and I say thank you.

Q: What’s your game plan for the holidays?

A: Usually, the holidays are stressful for me, and with the pandemic, it’s even more stressful. This year I might be spending the holidays with myself, but I’m getting really good at cooking, and I’ll be watching all of my favorite Christmas movies, especially “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas,” “Home Alone,” and not “Die Hard” but maybe “Die Hard 2.”

Q: Did you meet your goal?

A: My goal was to be able to sunbathe topless until the cruise I was supposed to go on got canceled. But during the summer, it felt like it was 150 degrees one day while we were running, my T-shirt was just soaked with sweat, and I just yanked it off. I half expected people to scream in horror or gouge out their eyes, but after the workout, people were telling me I looked really good. So even though I didn’t get to sunbathe topless, I still consider it an accomplishment.

Q: What change happened to you this year that was unexpected from CityFit?

A: I learned that I could influence people. It’s amazing how many people have come up to me. There are a couple of people who actually joined CrossFit Unstoppable because of seeing my weight loss. Last year I struggled with the same type of workouts and skillsets they are now, but I kept on going, and now I’m finishing workouts with minutes to spare. It’s crazy to me that by accomplishing my own personal goals that I’m affecting other people around me.

What are you most proud of your trainees? Their consistency and determination, especially during the closure of our facility. They were present on our Zoom Workouts and participated in extra challenges that we threw out there to help keep them engaged. It takes a special person to push through adversity, and both of these amazing people did just that!

What has been the best thing about CityFit from your perspective? I think the exposure of just normal, everyday people pushing through to reach their goals. My athletes (as well as 573Fitness athletes) are not fitness models, and I think a lot of times in the media world, there is the misconception that there is a certain way a person has to look when it really is all about how the person feels about themselves. Positive mindsets and perceptions of oneself are so important these days. I believe the way CityFit handled the measurements (via InBody) was the right way to go!
