Doctors are people too. In Behind the White Coat, Jefferson City Magazine takes readers beyond the practice to reveal the personal stories of local physicians.

Brian Conley, MD, FAAP | Pediatrician | Community Health Center

My name is Brian Conley, and I have been practicing pediatric medicine in Jefferson City, Missouri, for 37 years.

A Columbia, Missouri, native, I attended Rock Bridge High School and then attended Davidson College in North Carolina. I chose to be a pediatrician because of the many great physician role models I saw during my training, making me passionate about helping children. During my years of experience, I have done many child abuse exams, always trying to protect and advocate for children. I have also served on the Missouri Governor’s Advisory Committee to discuss genetics, a Missouri senate select committee to discuss methamphetamine effects on children, and have testified in the Missouri legislature on several occasions to discuss legislation affecting children. I am board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics — 1988, 1995, 2002, 2009, and 2016.

My outside interests include classical music, medical ethics, short stories, and history of medicine. I also enjoy judging debate tournaments, a true throwback to my own days of debating in high school and college. I am married to Dr. Peggy Klebba, who has practiced as an OB/GYN for 10 years in Jefferson City. She is a truly fabulous physician, and we are blessed with five wonderful children. I also enjoy working with colleagues at the Community Health Center where patients are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
