We know you’ve heard the beat many times, but we bet you’ve never heard such vicious rhymes.

A city with plenty of class, no doubt, we show what our neighborhoods are all about.

We’re here with some new stories everywhere we go. Hey, it’s JC, the town that stole the show.

So for all you party people who are in a state of shock, CITY Magazine’s — The Neighborhood issue just hit the block!

For our May/June issue, we set off to explore the history of JC, how much has changed, and where the city is headed in the future. It happened to be perfect timing for a neighborhood theme. Just as we began putting our pieces together, we were invited to take a sneak peak into the new Strikers entertainment center. Having seen the building damaged from the 2019 tornado, it was astounding to see it completely transformed, even expanding the building to include much more than a bowling center. The $2 million project is now complete with 12 bowling lanes, two HD sports simulators, a full kitchen and bar, and 40 arcade games.

Up next, we gathered around the table for a very crafty office party potluck! Dr. Pepper pulled pork, watermelon cucumber salad, fried deviled eggs, lemonade pie, and more consumption of food than we’re willing to admit. If you haven’t tried out at least one of these recipes yet, you don’t want to miss out. Speaking of food, and in true neighborly fashion, we visited with Chef Johnny Graham at Revel Catering to try some authentic Mexico dishes for our Gourmet section. What’s the only thing that could make traditional carne asada, ceviche, and molé even better? Pairing each dish with El Bandido Tequila.

And let us not forget our June 2022 Young Ones To Watch, Brett Weiberg. We surprised Brett during his last week at Thomas Jefferson Middle School where we were met with family, teachers, and fellow students, who were all so proud to share Brett’s accomplishments. On top of being a highly active and successful athlete, Brett exhibits positive leadership to his fellow peers – an attribute he plans to carry on this year as a Capital City Cavalier!
