Your Own Way

How did your business get started? I always had a point-and-shoot camera in my hands throughout middle and high school. I purchased my first DSLR camera as a birthday gift for myself a few months before graduating from nursing school and began to teach myself everything I could possibly learn about the art of photography! Going full-time with photography allowed me to stay home with our daughter, create my own hours, and overall, just made me more excited to work.

How do you define success and how do you celebrate a win? If I have created a joyful experience for somebody, and they are happy with the results, then my job as a photographer is successful.

What are your future goals? I hope to continue to have 15 to 20 weddings booked a year. I recently opened a natural light studio and would love to develop more boudoir clientele.

Three words that best describe you? Relatable, easy-going, and sentimental.

Do you have any advice for those just getting started? Invest in education. Learn your camera, editing software, etc., front to back. Don’t ever think you are the best you can be. Always be learning and wanting to learn.
