Real Estate Agent, Keller Williams Realty

“The action you take today will build success in your future,” says Allyn Witt, agent with Keller Williams Realty and co-owner of Family Stone Properties. “When I became a Realtor, I didn’t start out with a long list of clients or a step-by-step guide of what to do every day. There were moments I considered giving up, but hard work doesn’t always have an immediate payoff.”

It wasn’t until after six months of making small advances in her career that Allyn gained true confidence in her business, but through this experience, she learned that there is never a perfect time to take that next step. Instead of asking herself if she’s ready, she asks: “What is the one thing I can do today to build the life of my dreams?” She then makes a move and takes action.

Beyond the Nine to Five

Her dedication to moving forward doesn’t stop when her work day is over, either. As an active volunteer, Allyn believes that involvement is what makes a community. She says getting involved is “what makes Jefferson City continue to feel like a ‘hometown’ as it grows and grows,” though she didn’t always feel that way in high school and  college. “I thought moving back to your hometown meant you weren’t branching out or being adventurous or cool,” she says. “What I’ve come to realize is that Jefferson City has so much to offer. You just have to be brave enough to engage in it.”

During her time in the real estate business, she has had the opportunity to truly participate in her community by throwing herself into every organization and attending as many local happenings as possible. Instead of simply marking “interested” on all those fun-looking Facebook events, she decided to actually go. “It’s been a blast, and I’ve seen a whole new side of Jefferson City that I was too stuck in a rut to appreciate before. I feel like I’ve grown personally and professionally, and it’s kept me focused on the right things,” Allyn says. “Not to mention, I’ve made new friends who also love to be involved in the community!”

Taking Notes from Local Leaders

While learning to fully integrate herself into community, Allyn met a key individual who would change the trajectory of her career path. “Tami Turner first introduced me to the world of local philanthropy. She invited me to join the first fundraising committee I was part of, and things really took off from there,” Allyn says.

Her dedication to her career and her community has led Allyn to learn more about not only Jefferson City, but also herself. “People gravitate to who you naturally are,” she says. “The pressure to fit in can be hard when you’re young! I wish I could’ve reminded myself that I have a lot to bring to the table. The greatest family and friends in the world love me just for being myself.”
